  • Thudugala Ella

If you’re in search of beauty together with cascading waterfalls amidst the wilderness, then Thudugala Ella is the place to visit. You need to make your way through the rubber estate for about 300 meters, after which you’ll hear the water before you see it. Thudugala Ella is one of the four waterfalls residing in the western province, spread out through 4000 hectares.

  • Fa Hien caves

The largest natural rock in Asia, these caves can supposedly accommodate 3000 people. The Fa Hien caves are also known to be the most ancient pre-historic human settlement in Asia when archaeologists found weapons 37,000 years old by carbon dating. Among the many things to do in Kalutara, add this ancient attraction to your itinerary.

  • Kalutara Bodhiya

Previously known as Gangathilaka Viharaya, the history of this temple spans over 2320 years. During the colonial periods, it was turned into a fort and served several different purposes due to its location. Sites such as Travel Kalutara will give you more information on such attractions.

  • Richmond Castle

Richmond Castle is considered one of the most outstanding architectural works of the 1900s, once owned by an officer. If you travel to Kalutara, drop by at this place for a peep into history.
