The barley brew, gentleman in lederhosen and ladies in colourful frilly dirndls, yes, we are clearly referring to the biggest German festival that has managed to make its way around the world and came to be known as the Oktoberfest!
A bit about Oktoberfest
The entire celebration first came to be in the year 1810! The reason for this? Of course, it was one of the grandest weddings in Germany. The folk in Munich at the time were invited to eat, drink and make merry for a full five days in honour of the wedding between Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. The town had so much fun playing games and enjoying the music and various displays that they decided it would be a good idea to have it every year!
The food
Anantara Kalutara Resort held their very first Oktoberfest on the 6th of October 2018, and it’s safe to say that the choice of German food was absolutely amazing! From the pretzels and all sorts of warm yummy bakes, the chunky pieces of roasted meat and the divine desserts were all a die for!
The attire
Oktoberfest is just not the same without a Bavarian dress code, now is it? Guests were all spruced up in various shades of check shirts and traditional German styled dresses too! Check out more about the event on travel blogs like Travel Kalutara.
The ambience
The guests had plenty of fun at the Oktoberfest celebrations in this glamorous hotel in Kalutara! The music by Magic Box Mixup and Dj Niranjan was certainly lively and kept the dance floor as crowded as the queue at the buffet!
