Kalutara is known as a colonial and historical hotspot that is overshadowed by the beaches around it. But while its beaches may not be as famous as others in Sri Lanka, they are every bit as beautiful. As is the food you can eat there. There are great restaurants in Kalutara. Here are some of them:

1.  Oasis

Known for being a specialist in seafood, Oasis is in Waskaduwa and is wheelchair accessible. They have great local cuisine including local fresh fish, prawns, and lobster. The staff is friendly and accessible.

2.   Red Lobster Tours Spa & Restaurant

Opened in 2005 in Katukurunda, Kalutara, Red Lobster is a family business. It is wheelchair accessible and Wi-Fi enabled. Their main dishes are high-quality seafood. The staff is very friendly and the family atmosphere seeps into the service and conversations as well as the food.

3.   Seashells Restaurant

Seashells Restaurant is also situated in Waskaduwa. They serve alcohol and offer free Wi-Fi. It has glorious views of the beach on either side and their lobster is considered their best dish. It’s also a great place for a late-night drink.  It can be visited through Travel Kalutara.

4.  The Restaurant at the Mermaid Hotel

The restaurant of the Mermaid Hotel, serves seafood, European, Asian, local and vegetarian options. The desserts are considered delicious and the staff is known to go out of their way to make sure that their customers are made to feel at home.
